South Bay Man Sentenced For Trying To Kidnap 13-Year-Old Girl
The 55-year-old man pointed a gun at the young girl and tried to force her into his car last fall.

PALOS VERDES, CA – A Rancho Palos Verdes man was sentenced Thursday to 14 years in state prison for trying to kidnap a 13-year-old girl at gunpoint as she walked to school in Rancho Palos Verdes last fall.
Garrett Evans Webber, 55, pleaded no contest Nov. 29 to one felony count of attempted kidnapping of a victim under 14.
He also admitted an allegation that he personally used a semi-automatic firearm, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Webber drove up to the girl as she walked in the 28700 block of Highridge Road, got out of his vehicle, pointed a firearm at her and tried to force her into his vehicle on Oct. 30, 2017, according to Deputy District Attorney Lindsay Kurtis.
The teen was able to escape, and a good Samaritan was able to get Webber's license plate number, the prosecutor said.

He was arrested later that morning and has remained behind bars since then, jail records show.
