Teen Skateboarder Dies In 'Unfortunate Accident' Near Palos Verdes High
The 15-year-old boy was killed after he fell from his skateboard while being towed by a car at low speed, police said.

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA -- A 15-year-old boy from Manhattan Beach suffered fatal injuries when he fell from his skateboard while being pulled by a vehicle near Palos Verdes High School, police said.
The teen was identified as Sandro McIlroy, according to the coroner's office.
The incident, which police were labeling "an unfortunate accident" was reported at 7:33 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Epping Road near Paseo Del Mar, according to Palos Verdes Estates police Sgt. Steven LeBeau.

Responding officers found the teen lying in the roadway unconscious and suffering from head trauma, LeBeau said. He was not wearing a helmet.
McIlroy was taken to a hospital where he died from head injuries, LeBeau said.

The California Highway Patrol investigated the crash due to the fatality, LeBeau added.
McIlroy was riding a skateboard while being towed by a vehicle traveling at slow speed when he fell, LeBeau said.
The driver, who also is a minor, was cooperating with the investigation.
