Tourist in Fatal Fall Off Cliff Near Point Fermin ID'd as Nevada Woman

The fall was determined to be an accident, according to the coroner's office.

SAN PEDRO, CA — The coroner's office released the name of a woman who died in a fall from a seaside cliff near Point Fermin in San Pedro.

She was 21-year-old Lorena Barrera, of Sparks, Nevada, according to coroner's Lt. Dave Smith.

The fall was determined to be an accident, according to the coroner's website, and an autopsy showed Barrera died from traumatic injuries.

Firefighters were dispatched about 2:10 p.m. Friday to the 500 block of West Paseo del Mar to assist police and coroner's personnel at the scene, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The victim now identified as Barrera was found dead at the base of a cliff, Humphrey said.
