Wrong-Way Driver In Palos Verdes Estates Brandishes Knife: Police

A wrong-way driver on Palos Verdes Drive West allegedly pulled a knife on police and had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit.

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — A wrong-way driver suspected of driving while drunk allegedly brandished a knife at Palos Verdes Estates Police Department officers Saturday night, authorities said Sunday.

The incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday when several people called the police to report a wrong-way driver on Palos Verdes Drive West, according to the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department.

Officers quickly found the driver, who allegedly brandished a knife at them before a sobriety check revealed the driver had a blood alcohol content three times over the legal limit, authorities said Sunday.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI and a weapons violation, authorities said.
