At a time when the world faces mounting geopolitical tensions and complex development challenges, global leaders gathered in New York for an Ambassadors’ Gala, underscoring the importance of conscience, transparency, and integrity in shaping a more peaceful and sustainable future.

The gala was co-hosted by the Federation of World Peace and Love (FOWPAL), the Permanent Observer Mission of the Pan African Intergovernmental Agency for Water and Sanitation for Africa to the United Nations, MAC/BAN Corp, Patricia Professional Photographer, and other organizations. Convened at the heart of international diplomacy, the event brought together UN ambassadors, diplomats, NGO leaders, and peace advocates from around the world.

Participants engaged in meaningful dialogue, exchanging perspectives and exploring collaborative pathways to strengthen ethical leadership, foster global cooperation, and advance sustainable development in an increasingly interconnected world.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Hong, Tao-Tze, President of FOWPAL, emphasized the urgent need for values-based leadership in addressing today’s global challenges. “Rooted in conscience, transparency and integrity offer effective solutions amid complex interests, creating win-win and even multi-win outcomes,” he stated. “By interacting according to these principles and making them the foundation of all actions, we lay a solid groundwork for lasting global peace and sustainability.”

A highlight of the evening was the ceremony of ringing the Bell of World Peace and Love. Dr. Hong, joined by four distinguished leaders, offered heartfelt wishes for peace and unity. Ringing the bell nine times, Dr. Hong invoked a message of global harmony, reflecting on humanity’s shared origin and the power of conscience to guide collective action toward a sustainable future.

H.E. Mr. Mohamed Fathi Ahmed Edrees, Permanent Observer of the African Union to the United Nations, rang the Bell and wished that “peoples of the world understand that it is a worthwhile choice to live in peace, hope and happiness. This choice can only be achieved if we make it together.”

Prof. Dr. Thomas Saidy-Bah Kaydor, Consul General of Liberia in New York, rang the Bell and wished for “peace for all.”

Rev. Dr. Devon Bannister, Pro-Chancellor of CICA International University & Seminary, rang the Bell and stated, “True peace is a choice. I wish that every human will choose peace with themselves and their neighbors.”

H.E. Mr. Karoli Martin Ngoga, Permanent Representative of Rwanda to the United Nations, rang the Bell and stated, “We deserve a peaceful and prosperous world. May humanity work towards this aspiration and objective.”

Each bell ringer received the symbolic “Key to the Heart,” presented by Dr. Hong. The key represents the awakening of conscience—an inner force that inspires integrity, compassion, and moral responsibility in building a better world.

Since its inception, the Bell of World Peace and Love has been rung by 679 influential leaders from 158 nations, including 86 heads of state and government, 15 Nobel Peace Prize laureates, and numerous UN officials—each offering their wishes for peace and global harmony.

The evening also featured a symbolic lighting ceremony, representing the power of conscience, transparency, and integrity to illuminate the world. Cultural performances by FOWPAL members—including the vibrant Dragon Horse Dance, the uplifting song “The Power of Peace and Love,” and the energetic dance “Happiness Is Everywhere”—inspired attendees to move forward with courage, unity, and positivity.

In a moment of recognition, Dr. Nabhit Kapur was honored with the FOWPAL Peace Bell Award for his contributions to advancing access to clean water and sanitation, promoting sustainable development, and strengthening international cooperation.

Prof. Ada Okika, Senior Advisor from the same mission was also honored with the FOWPAL Peace Bell Award for her work in advancing gender equality, empowering women, and promoting peace and social justice.

Dr. Hong also presented the Compass Clock of Conscience to distinguished leaders, symbolizing the importance of moral clarity and responsibility in decision-making at all times. In addition, he presented to Consul General of North Macedonia in New York Jordan Panev two books documenting the history of the International Day of Conscience and the International Day of Hope. The books highlight the key collaborations between FOWPAL and various permanent missions to the UN that led to the UN’s adoption of these two international days.

Adding a personal reflection, Ms. Gloria Starr Kins, editor-in-chief and publisher of SDR, expressed continued support for Dr. Hong’s work. She emphasized that his message is increasingly important amid recent regional tensions, reaffirming her commitment to standing with him and advocating for greater understanding, dialogue, and peaceful pathways in the world.

As the evening drew to a close, participants reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing a culture of conscience, collaboration, and ethical leadership. More than a celebration, the Ambassadors’ Gala served as a powerful call to action—reminding the international community that lasting peace begins with individual conscience and is strengthened through the collective practice of transparency and integrity.

For global citizens everywhere, the message was clear: by working together, guided by conscience and grounded in transparency and integrity, a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world is within reach.
