PASADENA, CA — The city of Pasadena opened its 2026 rental registration cycle Tuesday, requiring owners of all residential rental properties in the city to register their properties by Oct. 31.
The city's Rent Stabilization Department has upgraded its Rental Registry portal this year, organizing the registration process into five steps designed to make it easier for property owners to enter property and unit information, review details and complete payment.
Owners must add their property, provide ownership and contact information, enter rental unit information or apply for an exemption, review and submit the registration and pay the required fee, according to the city.
The annual registration fee is $236.54 per rental unit. Owners may register and pay online through the Rental Registry portal. Payments also can be made in person at the Pasadena Municipal Services office, 100 N. Garfield Ave., Room N106, or by mail.
A seven-day grace period will follow the Oct. 31 deadline, during which no late fees will be assessed. Registrations completed by Nov. 7 will be charged only the annual registration fee, officials said.
Beginning Nov. 8, outstanding registrations will be subject to additional fees. The late fee will be 15%, or $35.48 per unit, for registrations eight to 45 days late; 30%, or $70.96 per unit, for registrations 46 to 90 days late; and 50%, or $118.27 per unit, for registrations 91 days or more late, according to the city.
The city is offering walk-in assistance at several Pasadena locations to help property owners complete their registrations.
Assistance will be available from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 3 and Sept. 21 at Victory Park Recreation Center, 2575 Paloma St.; from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 15 and Sept. 30 at Robinson Park Recreation Center, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave.; and at the Rent Stabilization Department office, 199 S. Los Robles Ave., First Floor Conference Room, from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 8, 22 and 29, and from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 13.
One-on-one appointments with Rental Registry staff also are available.
Property owners seeking assistance should have their Rental Registry account login information and current property, unit, tenancy and rental information available. Registration information can be saved and completed later before final submission.
