Pasedena, CA — CatCon, billed as the world's largest event at the intersection of cat culture and pop culture, celebrated its 11th anniversary over the weekend at the Pasadena Convention Center.
The two-day, held Saturday and Sunday, event drew thousands of fans and featured a showroom of new products, workshops, interactive games and meet-and-greets with internet-famous cats and creators. Celebrity cat lovers including Merv the Cat, Devon Diep, Sarah Whittle, Katie Farhood and others appeared, according to CatCon.
Organizers said 222 kittens were adopted through the Paw Promise Adoption Village sponsored by NexGard Combo and operated by Pasadena Humane, a record for the convention.
Highlights included a Nostalgic Cat Art Show with works by Bunny Dee, Nikita Chan, Vanessa Stockard, Rob Reger and Shepard Fairey, with a portion of proceeds supporting cats in need. The exhibit was dedicated to the late Sid Krofft. The Australian Firefighters returned for panels and meet-and-greets to support adoptions and the local community. The Bob Baker Marionette Theater performed its Halloween-themed revue "Spooktacular," featuring the Black Cat.
