Barricaded Home invasion Robber Shot And Killed In City Terrace Neighborhood
Police surrounded an armed home-invasion robbery suspect after he exchanged fire with residents in a City Terrace home.

LOS ANGELES, CA — An armed man who burst into a residence in the City Terrace area of the county Tuesday and got into a gunfight with one of three people inside the home was later was found dead, authorities said.
The home invasion occurred about 8 a.m. in the 3600 block of Floral Drive, according to the sheriff's department. Crisis negotiators tried in vain to make contact with the suspect, whose name was withheld pending family notification, before a SWAT team entered the residence late Tuesday morning and found him dead. It's unclear whether he was shot in the gunfight or died of a self-inflicted wound.
According to the preliminary investigation, the suspect entered the home, which was occupied by three residents, and began fighting with one of them, said Deputy Caroline Rodriguez.

"The second victim ... armed himself with his personal weapon, (and) went upstairs, and at that time a gunfight ensued between the suspect and the victim," Rodriguez said.
The victims then ran outside, and the suspect remained inside, Rodriguez said. Some evacuations were ordered, and a SWAT team and crisis negotiators were summoned to the scene.

One of the victims suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body, Rodriguez said. Another victim suffered an unspecified injury to his lower body. Both were taken to a hospital.
Sheriff's officials could not immediately confirm reports from the scene that the barricaded suspect was a 24-year-old man whose former girlfriend lives in the residence.
