County to Offer More Than $350K for Pasadena Dental Clinic
The clinic focuses on the uninsured, including the homeless, seniors and those living with HIV/AIDS.

The Board of Supervisors voted this week to help fund a Pasadena dental clinic for the uninsured. The Pasadena Public Health Department, which is developing the five-chair dental clinic at 1845 N. Fair Oaks Ave., has secured funding from other sources for construction.
The county will contribute $365,387 to be used primarily for operating costs, including dental staff and supplies. The clinic will provide services on a sliding fee scale to the uninsured and under-insured, including the homeless, seniors and individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
Research has shown a correlation between inadequate dental care and poor general health, according to health officials. And the uninsured, who can access emergency room services for some medical needs, often have no access to dental care.
