Boy, 15, Stabs Stranger In Random Pasadena Attack: Police

At 15-year-old boy is in custody for allegedly walking up to a stranger in Pasadena and stabbing him repeatedly in the head.

PASADENA, CA — A 15-year-old boy is in juvenile hall today for allegedly stabbing a man in the head repeatedly on a Pasadena street Sunday in what appears to be a random attack.

Police still haven't identified a motive for the stabbing.

The teen, a Bakersfield resident, approached a 32-year-old South Gate man as he waited for a friend in the 800 block of East Union Street at 5:28 p.m., the Pasadena-Star News reported.

The two did not know each other when the teen hit the man in the head with the handle of a kitchen knife and then stabbed him several times in the head, according to Pasadena Police Department Lt. Mark Goodman.

“The victim sustained serious injury, but was able to run away from the suspect and call for help,” Goodman told the newspaper.

Police found and arrested the teen at a nearby house a short time later, according to the Pasadena-Star News. The boy was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
