Join us for a special presentation with retina specialist SriniVas Sadda, MD, FARVO, Director of Artificial Intelligence &amp; Imaging Research at Doheny Eye Institute and Professor of Ophthalmology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
Dr. Sadda will discuss and answer questions about the latest advances in age-related macular degeneration (AMD), including how artificial intelligence is transforming diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment. Also, gain practical guidance on how to talk with your doctor about AMD and better understand today’s care options.
Dr. Sadda holds the A. Ray Irvine Jr., MD, Endowed Chair in Clinical Ophthalmology. His research focuses on retinal image analysis, advanced imaging technologies, and clinical trial innovation and is supported by multiple National Institutes of Health research grants. He has also been consecutively recognized on the Best Doctors of America list.

World renowned as a traditional singer and flute player, <a href="https://www.nualakennedy.com/nuala/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Nuala Kennedy</a> is known for her creative reworking and reimagining of traditional songs and for her unique Irish flute style, formed in Dundalk and honed in her long-time adopted home of Edinburgh, Scotland.
She is a musical adventurer who is recognized world-wide as a superlative performer of traditional music. Nuala joined Irish-American Supergroup SOLAS as singer for their 30th Anniversary Reunion in 2025. She has graced the cover of Irish Music Magazine, Sing Out! and appeared on the mainstage at festivals and venues around the world.Nuala and Eamon share a life-long interest in collecting lesser-known ancient ballads and breathing new life into them, re-working and re-imagining them for audiences today. Their melodies are hypnotic and wandering… much as the musicians themselves. They have honed their craft in tandem over decades of touring every conceivable type of venue; from Carnegie Hall and huge folk festivals, to a hand hewn village hall north of the Arctic Circle.
<a href="https://www.westcorkmusic.ie/artists/2025/eamon-oleary/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Eamon O’Leary</a>, from Dublin, is a&nbsp;long time resident of New York City.&nbsp;A singer and string player, with deep roots in the world of Irish trad. He is also a member of&nbsp;The Alt&nbsp;with Nuala Kennedy and John Doyle.&nbsp;His songwriting can be heard, most recently, on The Silver Sun from Reveal Records.

Award-winning Bob Gossom film closes National Poetry Month and opens Mental Health Awareness Month
Poet and playwright Bob Gossom brings back his acclaimed film Versified! The Human Equation for a limited encore streaming, blending contemporary poetry, motion, music, and storytelling to close National Poetry Month.
The film streams from 3 p.m. PT April 30 to 9 p.m. PT May 3 at bobgossom.com/film-viewing.
Adapted from Gossom’s acclaimed poetry collection The Human Equation, now in its expanded third edition, the production explores vulnerability, humor, contradiction and the shared experiences that connect people across generations and backgrounds.
First staged in Los Angeles, Versified! The Human Equation evolved from a live ensemble production, praised by reviewer Javier Ronceros for its performers who embody “dozens of characters in a dance of the human condition.”
This encore not only marks the shift from National Poetry Month to Mental Health Awareness Month, but also highlights poetry’s ongoing power for reflection and emotional wellness.
“Poetry has always been a place where people can process what they’re going through, often before they have language for it,” Gossom said. “It creates space to reflect and begin to heal.”
Writer, actor and director Levy Lee Simon praised Gossom’s distinctive voice and range.
“His vision and imagery leap from the page into the mind,” Simon said. “Bob has his own style. Versatility is his secret weapon.”
The production has received multiple honors, including Best Adaptation from the SoCal Film Awards in 2025, Best Original Idea from the Top Indie Film Awards in 2026, and Best Ensemble Cast from the Bare Bones International Film Festival in 2026. It also earned nominations for Best Writing and Best Editing.

SET for LIFE (Social Equity and Training for Living Informed Futures Everyday) is celebrating 20 years of service in the San Gabriel Valley by bringing its signature Love L.I.F.E. Celebration to Pasadena for the first time. Taking place on Saturday, May 2 at Lincoln Avenue Christian Church, this free, all-ages community event will bring together families and community members for a day of connection, entertainment, and resources, to strengthen our community as we celebrate the gift of LIFE. Guests will enjoy live jazz music by a surprise local saxophonist, a live DJ, line dancing, and a variety of food trucks including Tommy’s, DD’s Chick and Cat Shack, Taco Papas, and hot dogs, along with free fresh produce. The celebration will also feature engaging activities such as mini golf, a rock climbing wall, kids inflatables, arts and crafts, and selfie and photo stations.
