Charming Spanish Bungalow

A lovely classic Pasadena home gets a new owner.

I recently helped a buyer purchase a lovely remodeled single story Spanish Bungalow. Located in Orange Heights, Northeast Pasadena, the home is just a few blocks over from the historic Bungalow Heaven. Orange Grove Boulevard, a main road in Pasadena, is named for what used to cover the area. Orange groves were replaced as the Bungalow Boom of the early 1900s brought a rush of growing families, who were looking to build an easy and affordable home, to the area.

The location of this home, away from other bungalows that are structurally similar, gives it a special something and allows it to stand out among its neighbors. The previous owners maintained the integrity and charm of the craftsman style but modernized the space by opening it up and alluding to the Spanish Colonial Revival Style.

Craftsman homes were designed to complement the weather as well as the active lifestyle of most Californians by allowing lots of light and merging the atmosphere of in and out side of the homes.

The open floor plan allows for interaction between the kitchen and dining area, perfect for entertaining guests. The breakfast nook is also cozy for reading or working under natural light. The backyard is spacious and home to a gorgeous oak tree that has formed a canopy over the yard as well as a lemon tree. You know what they say, when life gives you lemons… My buyer is thrilled to be making some lemonade in their new home.
