Freeway Brush Fire Closes Down 210 Exit

A small brush fire broke out along side the 210 Freeway in Pasadena Monday afternoon: BREAKING.

UPDATED AT 5:15 P.M.: PASADENA, CA — A brush fire off the side of the 210 Freeway prompted the closure of a Pasadena offramp Monday afternoon.

The brush fire near the westbound 210 Freeway was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 3:49 p.m., said CHP Officer Alex Rubio. The Pasadena Fire department was able to knock down the blaze by 5 p.m., containing it to a small area. However, crews will remain on scene for some time making sure there are no flare-ups. The fire burned near a city maintenance yard where gas pumps and vehicles are located, according to Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department.

The fire prompted the closure of the Mountain Street exit of the westbound 210 Freeway in Pasadena, and the offramp was still closed as of 5 p.m., according to the CHP. The Mountain Avenue on-ramp will remain closed while firefighters monitor the scene.
