PASADENA, CA —A man died in a shootout with police Friday night. No officers were hurt in the exchange of gunfire.

It wasn't immediately clear if the man was killed by a police bullet or if he took his own life. As first reported by KTLA, the shooting happened just before 7 p.m. Friday in a residential at neighborhood at Howard Street and Glen Avenue.

Few details about the shooting or what led up to it were immediately released, and the shooting is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
