Man Sentenced To 5 Years For Kidnapping Teen In Pasadena

PASADENA, CA -- A man who grabbed a pedestrian in Pasadena and dragged the young woman toward his truck last year was sentenced Wednesday to five years in state prison.

Jose Gabriel Diaz Servellon, 30, of Pasadena pleaded no contest last month to one count of kidnapping.

The 19-year-old woman was walking near Maple Street and Fair Oaks Avenue on July 29, 2017, when Servellon pulled over and waited for her to pass by, according to Deputy District Attorney Melanie Drew.

Servellon then grabbed the woman and dragged her on the ground toward his truck, according to the prosecutor.

A passerby stopped to help the woman and Servellon drove off, Drew said. Police received a tip that resulted in his arrest about a week later near the 300 block of Tamarac Drive in Pasadena.
