Mountain Lion Captured In Pasadena Backyard
The large cat was sedated and captured by wildlife officials Thursday a good two miles from the national forest.
PASADENA, CA — A Pasadena neighborhood got a scare Thursday night when a large mountain lion wandered into the community and made itself at home beneath a tree in one resident's backyard.
The big cat wandered into the backyard of a home in the 1600 block of Fiske Avenue at about 5 p.m. Thursday. Residents spotted the creature and called authorities. State Department of Fish and Wildlife officials were notified, and police set up a perimeter and warned residents to stay indoors while wildlife officials headed to the scene.
By 8 p.m., state wildlife officials had sedated the cat and prepared to transport it to a vet for evaluation, reported KCAL9.

The home is a couple miles from the forest, and it's uncommon to see mountain lions in the area, according to neighbors. The cat, which weighs between 80 and 100 pounds, likely wandered into the area looking for a drink, Lisa Derderian, spokeswoman for the city of Pasadena told the Pasadena Star-News.
