Pasadena Firefighters Come Home After 10-Days Of Battling Detwiler Fire

After 10 days fighting the massive Detwiler Fire that burned 81,000 acres in Mariposa County​, Pasadena firefighters returned home Friday.

PASADENA, CA — Pasadena firefighters returned home Friday after 10 days of helping to battle the Detwiler Fire in Mariposa County.

The city sent two Pasadena fire engines and eight firefighters to help at the Detwiler Fire in Mariposa County. The crews provided structure protection, laid over 5,000 ft. of hose line for clean-up operations and assisted another department during a medical emergency, according to Lisa Derderian, emergency management coordinator for the Pasadena Fire Department.

The fire burned 81,000 acres in Mariposa County and destroyed 63 homes, according to Cal Fire. At one point, the fire threatened 1,500 homes. As of Friday night, it was 80 percent contained.
