Pasadena Man Gets 19 Years For Killing Girlfriend

A Pasadena man was sentenced to 19 years in prison for shooting to death his girlfriend when she tried to leave him.

PASADENA, CA — A Pasadena man who shot his girlfriend in the head was ordered to serve 19 years to life behind bars, prosecutors said Friday.

JonJon Crummie, 21, pleaded no contest in February to second-degree murder and using a handgun to kill 19-year-old Irais Acosta Olvera on Feb. 16, 2014, in the bedroom the couple shared at Crummie's parents' Raymond Avenue home.

Prosecutors said Crummie, who was sentenced Thursday, shot Acosta in the forehead at point-blank range after she told him she was leaving him.
