SigAlert: Biker Killed On 210 Freeway

The crash triggered a temporary freeway closure on the westbound side of the 210 Freeway in Pasadena.

PASADENA, CA — A motorcyclist who was splitting lanes was killed Tuesday in a collision involving a car and big rig on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Pasadena.

The crash was reported about 12:20 p.m. on the westbound side of the freeway west of Hill Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.

The motorcyclist was splitting lanes between the left lane and the carpool lane when the bike made contact with a Volkswagen Beetle in the carpool lane. The impact threw the rider, who was then struck by a westbound big rig, according to the CHP.

The fatal crash temporarily closed all westbound lanes and a Sigalert was issued.

Two lanes were later opened, but westbound traffic was backed up to Santa Anita Avenue and eastbound traffic to Mountain Street until about 3:30 p.m., when all lanes were reopened.
