Some Roads in Angeles National Forest Close Ahead of Expected Storm

The county Department of Public Works announced Friday that concerns about potentially heavy rainfall this weekend will prompt the closure of some roads in the Angeles National Forest area as a precaution.

Beginning about 6 a.m. Sunday, the following roads will be closed:

• Angeles Forest Highway, between Aliso Canyon Road and Angeles Crest Highway/SR2;
• Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road, between Angeles Forest Highway and Angeles Crest Highway/SR2;
• Big Tujunga Canyon Road, between Vogel Flats Road and Angeles Forest Highway; and
• Lake Hughes Road, between Warm Springs -- about 10 miles south of Elizabeth Lake Road
• and Newvale Drive in the community of Lake Hughes.

All designated roads will reopen once conditions permit.

Officials reminded motorists to be careful when driving in stormy and icy conditions, especially in mountain areas.

Residents, business owners and people with access or functional needs also may call the toll-free number 211 for Los Angeles County information and referral services regarding post-disaster resources that are available to those affected by the floods and debris and mud flow.
