Join California's Biggest Earthquake Drill

The Great California ShakeOut begins at 10:18 a.m. Thursday.

Pasadena-area schools, businesses and government officials will participate in the Great California ShakeOut at 10:18 a.m. Thursday. 

The statewide emergency preparedness earthquake drill aims to help locals best prepare for disasters and stay safe during emergencies.  

The Pasadena Fire and Police Department recommends people participate in the drill and take the time to make an emergency kit and a family disaster-response plan.

The Pasadena Fire Department offers disaster preparedness presentations for businesses, organizations or groups. To arrange a demonstration, contact the city’s Emergency Management Coordinator, Lisa Derderian, at (626) 744-7276.

Residents are urged to sign up for “Pasadena Local Emergency Alert System,” also known as PLEAS. PLEAS sends both text and voice messages to keep Pasadena’s residents and businesses informed in case of emergencies. Subscribers receive a message with the latest information and safety instructions.
