A social media campaign will begin 100 days before the next Rose Bowl game.

The 100th Rose Bowl Game New Year's Day will be marked by a social media campaign beginning 100 days before the game, a commemorative book, a new logo and an "All-Century Class,'' the Tournament of Roses announced tonight.

Fans will also have the opportunity in connection with the 100th Rose Bowl Game "to make a permanent mark at the Rose Bowl Stadium that will go toward the legacy campaign to ensure the stability and success of America's Stadium,'' Tournament of Roses Executive Director William B. Flinn said.

Details will be announced in the upcoming months, Flinn said.

-- a commemorative book to be written by former New York Times sports reporter Malcom Moran, the first book commissioned by the Tournament of Roses on the history of the game; and

-- an All-Century Class, including representatives from each decade. It will be announced Dec. 8.

The Rose Bowl was first played on New Year's Day 1902, with Michigan defeating Stanford, 49-0. The one-sided nature of the game prompted football to be replaced by chariot races, until football resumed in 1916.
