Transient Charged With Strangling Pasadena Senior In Her Home
Police have not identified the alleged motive for the homicide that unsettled the community.

PASADENA, CA —A transient accused of strangling an elderly woman in her Pasadena condominium stood before a judge in a Pasadena courtroom to face murder charges Tuesday.
Investigators believe Mary Jean O'Connor strangled to death a 75-year-old woman, but they haven't publicly identified a motive. O'Connor faces a potential maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison if convicted of the murder of Jeri Douglas, according to a district attorney's spokesman.
Authorities found Douglas dead inside her home in the 200 block of South Madison Avenue during a welfare check on the afternoon of Dec. 17. Within days, police arrested O'Connor, 41, in North Hollywood. She's being held in lieu of $2 million bail. O'Connor is due back in court Feb. 26.
