'Trump is Disgusting' Skywriting Seen at Rose Bowl Paid for by Alabama Millionaire
Another aerial message reportedly read, "PUTIN EATS TRUMP FOR DESSERT."
PASADENA, CA - Aerial messages calling Donald Trump ”disgusting” that appeared at the Rose Bowl held on Friday were paid for by a millionaire real estate developer from Alabama who said Trump is embarrassing not only the country but him personally.
Stan Pate, who told CBS News he is currently an undecided voter was an early donor to Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s campaign. Pate gave the Republican National Committee $25,000 in 2004 and supported Sen. John McCain’s presidential run. Pate has also donated to Democrats.
Pate called Trump a “despicable man” saying he wants America to wake up. “Donald Trump is embarrassing to the country, and he’s embarrassing to me,” he told CBS News. He added that Trump should go back to one of his tall buildings.
The messages bought from Florida-based airborne ad firm AirSign read, ”AMERICA IS GREAT, TRUMP IS DISGUSTING. ANYBODY BUT TRUMP.” The tagline on the messages’ directed people to anybodybuttrump.us, a website registered to Tuscaloosa, AL-based group called “We The People Foundation.”
Similar signs appeared at Sunday’s Orange Bowl and Cotton Bowl.
Eddie Thompson, brand ambassador for AirSign told MyNewsLA Pate wanted a smaller campaign at first but was advised to “go big”, sending the message in true Trump-esque fashion.
Both AirSign and Pate are no strangers to aerial messages that leave a mark. In 2014, AirSign drew hundreds of digits of pi on Pi Day over Austin at the South by Southwest festival. In 2010, Pate flew a banner over the national college football championship calling for the impeachment of Alabama Gov. Bob Riley.
