Watching TV can be bad for your posture

After a long day of work or even a long work week, the idea of vegging out and doing nothing becomes more and more desirable. Usually, going to the TV can be a way to escape from the troubles of real life, and submerge our minds into comedy and drama. But, can watching TV lead to more pain and stress?

When watching TV, how many of us are guilty of laying down with our heads propped up to the arm rest of the sofa or chair, knowing too well that, it is too high for us, but too lazy to get a pillow or change position?

Laying down with our heads elevated out of physical normalcy can create long term chronic effects. By causing one side of your neck to contract, and the other side to lengthen and overstretch for long periods of time (i.e. duration of an episode), you can create repetitive stress to the structures of the spine.

Rather than utilizing the arm rest of the sofa, grab a pillow to support the neck or change to a seated position with a neck support when watching TV. Just a mere change in posture and position will substantially make an impact.
