Scene in Petaluma: Towering front yard beanstalk hides a fairytale surprise (petalumanews.com) — A whimsical front-yard "beanstalk" in Petaluma's Cherry Valley neighborhood is climbing toward 12 feet, complete with a tiny Jack hidden among the vines. Local photographer Hope Stewart captured the scene and invites neighbors to share their own standout Petaluma photos for possible publication in the Argus-Courier's "Scene in Petaluma" community feature.
2. Could Waymo Be Coming To Santa Cruz? A Key Step Just Happened (patch.com) — Petaluma is now officially within Waymo's DMV-approved territory for driverless vehicles, meaning autonomous cars could eventually operate on local streets. While the company hasn't set a launch date, state regulators have cleared both road testing and passenger service in Sonoma County, opening the door to future robotaxi rides between Petaluma and other nearby communities.
3. Loaded Gun, Drugs And Stolen IDs Found During Santa Rosa Traffic Stop: Police (patch.com) — A 48-year-old Petaluma woman was arrested in Santa Rosa after officers stopping her car for expired registration say they found a loaded revolver, suspected drug paraphernalia, pills and numerous IDs and checks belonging to others. She was booked into Sonoma County Jail on multiple firearm, drug and identity-theft-related suspicions, highlighting ongoing regional crime concerns affecting Petaluma residents too.
4. Pic(k) of the Week: Drinking Budweiser & Heineken? (yoursforgoodfermentables.com) — Petaluma gets a nod through Lagunitas Brewing, whose IPA is highlighted as an example of a once-"craft" beer now owned by global giant Heineken. The piece uses Lagunitas and North Carolina's Wicked Weed to explain how the Brewers Association defines independent craft breweries and why some brands lose that status after big buyouts.
