Multiple Law Enforcement Agencies Track Suspect In Cross-Country Pursuit

The driver is accused of fleeing police and driving at high speeds from Petaluma to Vallejo.

BAY AREA, CA — Several law enforcement agencies in Sonoma and Solano counties worked together Saturday to track down a driver suspected of fleeing police and driving at high speeds from Petaluma to Vallejo.

Police in Petaluma engaged in the pursuit as the driver was wanted for an alleged parole violation. Officers then lost sight of the vehicle near Lakeville Highway.

Deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office saw the car traveling southbound on Arnold Drive.

A helicopter from the Sheriff's Office, called "Henry One," was deployed to assist and observed the car driving eastbound on Highway 37. The helicopter helped direct the California Highway Patrol to the suspect.

With the helicopter keeping a visual of the vehicle, units on the ground were able to back off and create distance. Despite no patrol units actively chasing the car, the suspect allegedly continued to drive recklessly at speeds exceeding 100 mph, passing other vehicles on the shoulder and using the center median of the highway, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The suspect then drove into the area of Pinole and Hercules before turning back toward Vallejo. He eventually pulled over on Interstate 80 and was taken into custody by the Vallejo Police Department and CHP, a video from the Sheriff's Office shows.
