PETALUMA, CA — A Penngrove man surrendered after crisis negotiators a three-hour standoff involving Petaluma police and tear gas.
Police arrested Michael Orsini, 39, on Sept. 7 under a felony warrant connected to a July 24 assault in the 100 block of Eastside Circle.
Petaluma police received a 911 call at 11:54 p.m. reporting that two men were fighting and one was bleeding.
Officers found blood in the driveway and entryway, but the people involved had left, police said.
Occupants identified the victim but otherwise did not cooperate with investigators.
Petaluma Valley Hospital notified police at about 12:39 a.m. that someone had brought in a stabbing victim.
The victim confirmed that someone assaulted him at the Eastside Circle home but otherwise did not cooperate, police said.
The victim suffered multiple injuries that were not life-threatening and received further treatment at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
Detectives investigated the case as an assault with a deadly weapon.
On Sept. 7 they arrived with a search warrant at Orsini's home on the 200 block of Hatchery Road, along with a felony arrest warrant.
Crisis negotiators communicated with Orsini by cellphone for about three hours beginning at 8:27 p.m.
Orsini finally surrendered surrendered at 11:29 p.m. after police "introduced" tear gas into the home. He was arrested and taken to the Sonoma County jail.
