Highway Closed As Vegetation Fire Grew In North Bay: CHP

PETALUMA, CA — Fire crews responded to a vegetation fire Thursday afternoon near Lakeville Highway as CHP requested to close the highway in the area.

At around 2:10 p.m. on Thursday, forward progress on the Lakeville Fire was reportedly stopped.

The fire was first reported around 1:45 p.m., with smoke visible on a nearby camera, CalFire reported.

CHP was requested to close Lakeville Highway at the north and south intersections with Old Lakeville Highway No. 2.

As of 2 p.m., officials reported the fire had burned several acres on both sides of Lakeville Highway.

One structure had been threatened, according to an earlier update.

Additional firefighting resources were requested as crews worked to contain the fire.
