Two hospitalized after fiery crash sparks brush fire near Sonoma (sonomanews.com) β Petaluma-area readers should know that a fiery two-vehicle crash near Stage Gulch and Watmaugh roads south of Sonoma sent two people to local hospitals and briefly closed Stage Gulch Road. Firefighters, including crews from Petaluma and several nearby agencies, quickly contained a 1.25-acre brush fire sparked by the burning vehicle while bystanders helped move an occupant away from advancing flames.

CHP: Santa Rosa man arrested in fatal hit-and-run involving cyclist near Graton (pressdemocrat.com) β A 43-year-old Petaluma woman was killed in a late-September hit-and-run along Guerneville Road near Graton, and CHP has now arrested a 29-year-old Santa Rosa man on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run causing death. Investigators tracked a damaged white Ford Ranger after a tip from a Santa Rosa resident, and the suspect is being held on $500,000 bail pending formal charges.
