PETALUMA, CA — Petaluma police towed four vehicles and issued 12 citations in an effort to limit abandoned vehicles, inoperable vehicles, and other parking violations.
That includes nine trailers and four motorhomes.
Police also put 23 notices on vehicles parked on public streets warning them that they had 72-hours to move before the department takes action.
Petaluma laws prohibit vehicles from parking in the same location on a public street for more than 72 consecutive hours.
Vehicles that exceed that limit, or park in the way of crosswalks, fire hydrants, or driveways could be cited and towed. Residents should move vehicles regularly when parking on public streets to comply with limits.
The department said the ordinance helps prevent abandoned vehicles from accumulating in neighborhoods, increases parking availability, improves visibility and roadway safety, and maintains clean, accessible streets.
Residents can report suspected parking violations, abandoned vehicles, and vehicles parked longer than 72 hours through the city's online reporting portal or by calling (707) 778-4372.
