5 People Shot in Oakland in 3 Hour Period

One victim suffered a critical brain injury.

OAKLAND, CA — Five victims were shot in Oakland Wednesday night and early this morning, including one victim who suffered a critical brain injury, police said today.

Four victims were shot in the 1100 block of Mandela Parkway in West Oakland at 10:38 p.m., police said. They were all hit in the lower body and taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Then at 1:15 a.m., another male victim was shot in the 9700 block of Birch Street, near 98th Avenue in East Oakland. That victim was taken to a hospital with a critical brain injury.

Police have made no arrests and provided no description of any suspects in either shooting.
