• Brownies, Girl Scouts learn about democracy and citizenship on Oct. 4 (piedmontexedra.com) — Piedmont Girl Scouts recently joined Oakland troops to learn firsthand about democracy from Piedmont's mayor and a city councilmember, including how local government works and why voting matters. The girls explored citizenship, practiced a flag ceremony, discovered the Piedmont Historical Walk, and capped the day by marching to City Hall with handmade protest signs and songs.
   

• ShakeOut on October 15 is a chance to refresh earthquake safety knowledge (piedmontexedra.com) — Piedmont residents are being urged to join the Great California ShakeOut on October 15 by practicing the updated "drop, cover, and hold on" earthquake safety steps. Local firefighters are demonstrating best practices, and the city is asking you to complete an online disaster preparedness survey to shape future emergency resources and support in Piedmont.
   

• High school football 2026: Friday's Week 7 scores, Saturday's schedule (eastbaytimes.com) — Piedmont High's football team notched a 35–20 win over Arroyo in Week 7 action, highlighted in a roundup of Bay Area scores.
