Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested Following Brief Foot Chase in Oakland Sunday

Oakland police arrested an armed robbery suspect after a brief foot pursuit on Sunday night, police said. Shortly before 9:15 p.m. Sunday, officers on patrol in the 1200 block of Excelsior Avenue saw a vehicle wanted in connection with an armed robbery, according to police.

The officers tried to pull over the vehicle but the driver fled on foot. After a short pursuit, the officers were able to take him into custody and also found an illegal firearm and stolen items in the car, police said.

The suspect’s name was not immediately available from police.
