Barracudas Take First at All-Star Tournament
The 12-year-old baseball all-stars from Piedmont and Oakland won five of their six games at the week-long tournament in San Anselmo.

The Barracudas, a team of 12-year-old all-star baseball players from Oakland and Piedmont, captured first place at the San Anselmo Baseball Association’s annual All-Star Tournament at Memorial Park in San Anselmo on Sunday, July 22.
The week-long tournament began on July 16, and in pool play the Barracudas posted three wins and one loss. The Barracudas were the second-seeded team heading into the playoffs that began early in the morning on July 22.

In the playoff semi-finals the Barracudas defeated SABA (San Anselmo Baseball Association) with a three-run over-the-fence home run from Angelo Paez and a walk-off single from Ben Young.
The Barracudas then advanced to the championship game to face the East Bay Bears (El Cerrito) for the second time. In the first match-up, the East Bay Bears defeated the Barracudas by one run. However, the Barracudas were ready for the Bears in the second game and clinched the victory with 15 hits in six innings, including over-the-fence home runs by Tyler Manca, Carson Gerhardy, Zach Huffins, Josh Campuzano and William Robison. Ben Lancaster led the Barracudas with four home runs in the tournament.
