Baseball Travel Team Wins Weekend Tournament
A team member from Piedmont was named MVP of the Jay Ribera Memorial Tournament.

Lamorinda Baseball Academy’s (LBA) 12u Generals, a travel baseball team with players from Alameda and Contra Costa counties — including three Piedmonters — captured first place by winning four of five games at the USSSA Jay Ribera Memorial Tournament in Manteca and Tracy on June 2 and 3.
"Piedmont’s three players on the team were an integral part of the success," according to an LBA press release.
"Tucke Backer pitched six innings in a 5-4 victory over the Norcal Grizzlies in the first playoff game, and Matthias Haggerty contributed a walk-off hit to end the game in extra innings.

"Carson Gerhardy was voted the tournament MVP for his offensive and pitching endeavors as well as a diving stop and throw from his knees with the bases loaded for the final out of the championship game."
The Generals travel next to the Cooperstown Dreams Park National Invitational Tournament in New York, where they will compete in a tournament with more than 100 teams from across the U.S..
