Cops Seeking Suspects in Wednesday Night Gunfight in Nearby Emeryville

At least 15 shots were exchanged between two cars near the Hyatt Place Hotel, police said. [BREAKING]

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA – Emeryville police are looking for suspects in a Wednesday night gunfight between people who were apparently shooting at each other from two different cars.

At about 9 p.m., patrol officers near the 5800 block of Shellmound Street heard several gunshots and began looking for the source of the shooting.

At about the same time, several 911 calls came in reporting that people in two cars were shooting at each other in the parking lot of the Hyatt Place Hotel at 5700 Bay Street, according to police.

Officers found several shell casings and shattered glass in the parking lot but were unable to locate any victims or suspects.

Emeryville police Chief Jennifer Tejada reported via her Twitter account that at least 15 shots were exchanged.

Witnesses said that the cars, a black hatchback and a light colored four-door sedan, fled the area in different directions before police arrived.

Investigators are reviewing video surveillance footage from the area.
