Eurocana Brings Gypsy Jazz to Piedmont Piano Company June 16
Some jazz, some swing — and a Green Day connection.

George Cole — who taught guitar to Billie Joe Armstrong when the Green Day frontman was only 5 years old — is bringing his new love, gypsy jazz, to the Piedmont Piano Company stage on Saturday, June 16.
Cole, a Bay Area native, and his newly formed group Eurocana draw inspiration from the Gypsy-fueled jazz of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. The group includes Cole on lead guitar and vocals (he's also a lyricist and composer), the classically trained Echae Kang on violin, French Gypsy guitar master Mathias Minquet Villarino, bassist Kaeli Earle and Jenefer Taylor on vocals.
Cole's original material also pays tribute to the melodies of a time gone by, the swing music of the 1920s through 1940s, but with a modern lyrical twist.
