Anna Anthropy at Diesel Bookstore

Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland welcomes local game designer, critic, and author Anna Anthropy to the store to discuss and sign her new book, Rise of the Videogame Zinesters, on Wednesday, April 18th at 7pm.

As Scott McCloud did for graphic fiction in Understanding Comics, pixel-provacateur Anna Anthropy does for videogames in Rise of the Videogame Zinesters. She makes the argument that digital games have the potential to impact our culture in new, surprising, and vital ways, and that people like us — including (and especially) non-programmers, activists, and everyone outside the cultural mainstream — can take the leap from player to creator and join the coming aesthetic revolution.

Anna Anthropy is a freelance scratchware videogame creator, critic, and all-purpose pervert. She is a former editor of The Gamer's Quarter, described by designer and critic Greg Costikyan as "the closest thing the game industry has to a journal of serious critique." She lives in Oakland.
