We all live with loss, experiencing it personally and socially. Vicki Gunter’s Loss series of ceramic sculpture and poetry is both poignant and tongue-in-cheek. The death of the family dog, Shadow, pushed the first abstract image into clay and metal. Other images and experiences of loss then flooded into poetry & form: her grandparents (as rose & pocket watch), her mother (as Swallowtail), her father (as vulture), and the American flag as experienced by the 99%.

She follows the intriguing shapes and images that materialize until they lead to unexpected and surprising destinations.
