Melanie Lynn Macy has been an artist all her life. Creating works in all
different mediums throughout her career has enabled her to take that
experience and create a distinct style of design for her painting and
jewelry designs. Melanie worked as a graphic designer for many years
and had two successful solo shows as a painter. Her first show was in
1998 at the Grand Cafe on Grand Ave. The second in 2001,
at a private home.
“ I stopped painting in 2001 after my son was born and switched careers
to jewelry design. I started a small business called “RingsEclectic”
www.ringseclectic.com,
which went global, it seemed, over night. I had 5 Reps across the US and London.
My jewelry was in over 100 stores including Nordstroms, Harrods in London, Anthropologie and
Henry Bendels in NY. Business has been great but I was getting burned
out on the fashion world. Moving to Piedmont, settling into a new home
and school created the perfect backdrop for me to return to painting.
I haven’t painted in over 10 years and it feels great to get my hands dirty again. These current works are a mix of everything I have wanted to do for years. Each piece is different from the other in many ways. I get bored
easlily so I work fast and always want to experiment with new techniques.
Art has always been a part of me. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t
doing something creative.
I’m already thinking about my next series of works. I plan to go bigger!!
Material Notes:
This 2012 series is an eclectic mix of materials. I use oil and acrylic paints on most.
Plastic components, jewelry parts, brass chains, different papers, gels and resins.
