PBF Umpire Training

Past and Future Umpires!

Training

Training will take place over two days

  • Thursday, Feb 9th from 6PM to 9PM This will take place in room 13 at PHS. You may bring snacks/water if you promise to keep things neat.
  • Sunday, Feb 12th from 9AM to 1PM This will take place at the MPR at PMS, and the adjacent blacktop. I will have snacks and water available but feel free to bring your own as well.

PBF pays $70 for training BUT you must actually umpire games to get paid! We pay you an additional $35/game for the first two games you umpire.

Pay

Pay per game is $30 for most umps and $35 for senior umps. Senior umps are willing and able to work behind the plate on Mustang games (calling balls and strikes). During the field training on Sunday, we will be evaluating those interested for senior/plate umpiring. Bear in mind that part of this is purely physical - you have to be tall enough to look over the catcher's shoulders to call balls and strikes accurately! You are also less likely to be qualified as a senior umpire if this is your first season as an umpire.

Pay is calculated twice a month for the previous half month (the games on or before the 15th, the games after the 15th till the end of the month). Depending on how the weekend falls, the pay period may have 1, 2 or 3 weekend's worth of games in it.

Public Service Option

This year we are pleased to be offering a public service option for umpires. We will award you 2 community service hours (applicable to PHS) for each game umpired! In addition, PBF has agreed to make a financial contribution of $25 to the PHS Baseball program for each game umpired! Let me know if you are interested in the public service option!
