Publication Party for "Why Aren't You Smiling?" and "Boneyard" at Diesel Bookstore

Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland is pleased to host a publication party for local authors Alvin Orloff and Stephen Beachy on Sunday, November 6th at 3pm.

Alvin Orloff's new novel, Why Aren't You Smiling?, follows the trials and tribulations of 14-year-old Leonard. When Leonard decides to quit being a Dweeb and instead joins the Burnouts, his “good boy” persona is abandoned as he embarks on a comically painful journey of self-discovery.

Stephen Beachy's newest book is Boneyard. In this unusual “collaborative novel,” Jake Yoder, a precocious boy caught between Amish culture and the modern world, sits in his middle-school classroom writing stories at the behest of a stern but charismatic teacher.
