Vessel Gallery is excited to introduce Gordon Glasgow, Marirose Jelicich, and John Ruszel. Their approaches to their art are dissimilar from the onset, but with time amidst the work, one can understand similarities beyond what meets the eye. Compositions and explorations are employed in a complete manner, as presented in Vessel's upcoming exhibition "Structure, Object and Truth Discerned."
Gordon Glasgow's work is meditative, and articulates a genuine sensitivity and response toward his chosen material. This artist deliberately focuses on the senses by isolating parts of the human figure as his subjects. These sculptures are contemplations on the body suspended in the physical structure and material substance of carved wood.
Marirose Jelicich's jewelry takes a green perspective towards use of materials; meanwhile, her approach to design results in primitive yet modern adornment for the body.
John Ruszel begins his work with a narrow set of parameters through detailed drawings. Wood, string, and metal inspire this artist to explore structures concentrating on the support of an object, creating interplay of his limited materials. The act of creating these finely engineered works exhibits his values of both craftmanship and mystery between light and shadow. Together Gordon, Marirose, and John present a beautiful counterpoint. In "Structure, Object and Truth Discerned," these artists use expert skill and keen insight in creating their work, revealing the balances between pre-meditated design and human intuition, interdependence and independence, isolation and connectivity, as a subject or as a record. - Lonnie Lee, Gallery Director and Artist Representative
