Ex-Felon Charged with Fatally Shooting Man Last October in Oakland
The shooting happened on Oct. 12 in the 7300 block of International Boulevard.

An ex-felon has been charged with murder for the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man in East Oakland last October, prosecutors said. Brian Carter, 34, was arrested on a murder warrant at an apartment in unincorporated Pittsburg last Tuesday afternoon for the shooting death of Dominique Parks.
Parks was shot at about 8 a.m. on Oct. 12 in the 7300 block of International Boulevard, near his home. He was taken to a local hospital but died on Oct. 23. Oakland police Officer Nicholas Calonge wrote in a probable cause statement that investigators found two guns and ammunition after they arrested Carter at an apartment at 2047 Deltaview Lane last Tuesday.
Calonge said Carter has two prior felony convictions but the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is only charging him with one prior conviction, which is for possession of concentrated cannabis in 1999. In addition to murder, Carter is charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
