Fetherston, a New Yorker who grew up in Piedmont, had this to say about California's perch in the fashion world: "I feel like fashion is completely being dictated by young Hollywood. In a way, what sells clothes are those weekly magazines. That’s very California, West Coast, driven so I think that California totally has its place in the landscape."
