PIEDMONT, CA - An unattended space heater set a room on fire in a house in the Oakland hills Tuesday morning, a fire battalion chief said.
The fire was reported at 10:24 a.m. on Colton Boulevard near Snake Road in the city's Montclair neighborhood, according to the fire department.
A space heater left running in a room on the first floor set the room and its contents on fire, Battalion Chief Coy Justice said. Firefighters managed to contain the fire to the single room and put it out in about 20 minutes.

The sole occupant of the house should still be able to stay there despite the smoke damage throughout the first floor, as long as PG&E can turn his power back on without any problems, Justice said.
No one was injured by the fire.
