Fleeing Suspect Stopped By K-9 Identified
The CHP says the suspect rammed a patrol car with a Mercedes SUV before fleeing on foot.

OAKLAND, CA - A man who led California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit from Oakland to Pleasant Hill on Thursday has been identified and is also accused of driving under the influence.
Salvador Cierra, 52, was arrested after he allegedly fled from CHP officers at 8:50 p.m. Thursday during an attempted traffic stop for tailgating on eastbound state Highway 24 near Broadway in Oakland.
In a Mercedes SUV, Cierra allegedly led officers on a chase through the Caldecott Tunnel and eventually onto Pleasant Hill Road, according to the CHP. CHP officials said he rammed a CHP patrol car near Taylor Boulevard and Apollo Way during the pursuit.

Cierra was taken into custody after he stopped his vehicle on Skander Lane and made an attempt to flee on foot that was thwarted by a K-9 unit, CHP officials said. The dog bit Cierra and he had to be taken to a hospital for treatment.
CHP officials initially said Cierra was arrested on suspicion of felony evading police and assault with a deadly weapon and have since added that he is suspected of DUI as well.
