Four Piedmonters on Barnstorming Championship 13u Team
The team won its division in the Triple Crown Sports SlumpBuster Tournament.

Four Piedmont baseball players traveled through the Midwest June 14-19th as part of Lamorinda Baseball Academy’s (LBA) annual “barnstorming Generals roadtrip.”
The LBA Generals, a 13u Majors travel baseball team comprised of players from Alameda and Contra Costa counties, scrimmaged in Fort Collins, Colorado, Cheyenne, Wyoming and Fort Kearney, Nebraska before arriving in Council Bluffs, Iowa to participate in the world’s largest global youth baseball tournament; Triple Crown Sports SlumpBuster Tournament.

The LBA Generals played top teams from throughout the nation and were the champions of the 12 teams in their division with a record of 4 wins and 1 loss.
Piedmont players made a strong contribution. Tucke Backer scored 4 runs and pitched 5 innings during the tournament, earning the win in the semi-final game against the Hoover Bucs from Alabama. Carson Gerhardy batted .444 in the tournament and pitched 2 innings. Matthias Haggerty reached base 50% of his trips-to-the-plate and scored one run in each of the 5 games. Tyler Manca had three hits during the tournament and pitched 3.67 innings in a win against the Hoover Bucs in the first playoff game.

While in Omaha, the LBA Generals attended the College World Series, including a 2-1 victory for UCLA versus North Carolina State.
