Free Drug Disposal This Saturday

Both prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs will be accepted

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are holding a free Drug Take-back day this Saturday, Sept. 27, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Both prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs will be accepted.

This effort is key to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft, as well as to avoid unintended pollution of the environment caused by unsafe disposal methods.

DA Nancy E. O’Malley states, “I applaud the efforts our federal, state and local partners for their attention and dedication to prevent pill abuse and misuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse and addiction in Alameda County as well as around the state and nation are alarmingly high, as are the numbers of tragic accidental overdoses due to these drugs. My Office remains dedicated to eliminating prescription drug abuse and ensuring that the public has access to safe disposal methods of these substances.”
